Our Story

Over 30 years ago a ranch was founded in the Sandhills of Nebraska. Determined to maintain the western tradition and heritage of ranching, they found themselves in need of horses that could do it all. A horse that could read a cow well, go all day, and excel as an all around work horse. Horses with trendy modern show ring breeding would not suffice.

This need led to countless hours of research and exploring bloodlines to find the type of horse who could be a partner and an asset to a working cowboy.

Old Foundation Quarter Horses has focused on breeding American Quarter Horses that maintain old foundation bloodlines; currently focusing on breeding three different foundation bloodline stallions, with no less than 98% old foundation heritage. These are horses who are easy going and laid back enough pair out calves, who can pick up the pace to cut a cow out of the herd, and have a natural aptitude for roping livestock.

We are passionate about preserving heritage bloodlines and hope that as you prepare to ride into the future you stop to take a look at the past.
